Anthony “Hamp” Nugent, age 54, of Leoma, TN passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at his residence. He was a native of Lauderdale County, AL, retired Captain from the Lawrenceburg Police Department, bus driver for First Class Charter, and a member of Shores Baptist Church.

Anthony “Hamp” Nugent, age 54, of Leoma, TN passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at his residence. He was a native of Lauderdale County, AL, retired Captain from the Lawrenceburg Police Department, bus driver for First Class Charter, and a member of Shores Baptist Church.
Anthony’s career started in 1985 as a reserve deputy at the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. He was then hired as a full time deputy sheriff and later promoted to sergeant and then on to investigator. He became a narcotics investigator in 1990 for the Lawrenceburg Police Department. After serving for 24 years as a drug investigator, he became a member of the 22nd Judicial District Drug Task Force where he retired as Captain from the Criminal Investigation Division.
Mr. Nugent was also a member of many organizations including Fraternal Order of Police Natchez Trace Lodge #33, National Rifle Association, and Blue Knights TN IV LEMC of Columbia, TN..
Retired Assistant Police Chief Edward Sidney Dooley, III, age 74, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born on March 29, 1945 in Maury County, Eddie was the son of the late Edward Sidney Dooley, Jr. and the late Eleanor Detterich Dooley. He served his country in the Tennessee National
Retired Assistant Police Chief Edward Sidney Dooley, III, age 74, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born on March 29, 1945 in Maury County, Eddie was the son of the late Edward Sidney Dooley, Jr. and the late Eleanor Detterich Dooley. He served his country in the Tennessee National Guard and began working for the Columbia Police Department in 1972. During his career with the police department, he was promoted to Lieutenant in 1982 and later promoted to Assistant Chief in 1991. He received a “Job Well Done” from Chief James Boyd for his assistance in applying for a Highway Safety Grant in 1992. In 1995, Eddie was invited to and attended a ceremony at the White House where he was recognized and honored by former President Bill Clinton for writing a grant for the Community Oriented Policing Services “COPS” Program. He helped with several other grants, including the Edward Byrn grant. He retired on March 31, 2000.
He was a member of The Blue Knights TN IV LEMC organization and a member of the Elk’s Lodge. Before his career in law enforcement, he was manager of ABC Cleaners. Eddie was a member of Bigbyville Methodist Church.
James Roy Sellers, age 82, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee. Roy was born May 7, 1938 in Columbia, Tennessee to the late James Morel Sellers and Margaret Pinnel Sellers.
Roy began his life in Columbia Tennessee, where he attended Columbia Military Academy. Following his gradua
James Roy Sellers, age 82, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee. Roy was born May 7, 1938 in Columbia, Tennessee to the late James Morel Sellers and Margaret Pinnel Sellers.
Roy began his life in Columbia Tennessee, where he attended Columbia Military Academy. Following his graduation from CMA Roy went straight into the United States Air Force which is where he would proudly serve for the better part of the next 20 years. Not long after enlisting Roy was stationed at Mildon Hall AFB in London, England. It was there that he met the love of his life Valerie Cockrill Sellers. They began a family in Chatham, Kent, England where they raised their 4 children until finally retiring from the Air Force and returning home to Columbia, TN in May of 1981. Not long after coming home Roy joined the Columbia Police Department as a Patrolman. Over the years he moved through the ranks, working with the drug task force until eventually achieving the rank of Detective Sergeant before retiring in 2004 from CPD. Upon retirement Roy would spend his time riding with the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club or spending quality time with his friends or family. Roy was a pillar in the Maury County Community and he will be dearly missed.
Roy is survived by his children: Kim Hughes, Mark (Donna) Sellers, Wayne (Brenda) Sellers, and Kellie Sellers; grandchildren: Adam Hughes, Darren Hughes, Brittany Webb, Chelsea Sellers, Dustin Sellers, Kai Sellers, Kelsey Cummings, Holly Sellers, and Brad Sellers; great grandchildren: Bentley Hughes, Jayden Hughes, Matilda Rose Cummings, Frank Cummings, London Hughes, and Sawyer Webb; and longtime coworker and special friend: Lonnie Lyles. Roy is preceded in death by his wife Valerie Sellers, his parents, and son in law Alan Hughes.

Beginning in 1996, this memorial book has been taken to the International Convention for display and a reading of the previous year deceased members is given
